Insider Beauty Tips from Fashion Week

8 Insider Beauty Secrets We Picked Up at Fashion Week

So the Fashion Week whirlwind has been blowing around the world’s biggest fashion cities: New York, London, Paris and Milan – and of course, there have been some amazing looks both on and off the runways!

But everyone knows that all the hottest action is behind the scenes. And that’s where we headed to – to pick up some of the best beauty scoops:

1.    Get ultra girly with a flick

Chanel’s models were given a ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ look – and we loved the ‘girl’ styles! Especially the big, dramatic flick of a cat’s eye done in matt shadow for a softer effect, completed by a beautifully kissable pout in lightly stained pink lips.

2.    Lashings of lashes

Big, full lashes are never out of fashion – certainly not at Paris Fashion Week. At Giambattista Valli, there was plenty of mascara on show, to create full, feathery lashes for a sultry look.

3.    Thinking of going natural?

Then take your cue from Chloé, where the models rocked a clean, healthy glow – created with just a tiny touch of blush on the cheeks. Most important of all though? Impeccably groomed eyebrows – don’t make any excuses!

4.    Sheer nails

One of our favourite insider beauty trends as seen at New York Fashion Week: the rise of the sheer nail gloss. With just a wash of colour – from dusky dark grey to sparkling iridescent shades, these sheer nails looked fantastically refreshing.

5.    Loosen up your hair

You can relax when it comes to doing your hair – take your cue from the runways and go for a lazy, come-undone look. Ponytails were scooped up roughly at Stella McCartney – as if the models had just grabbed a quick elastic band on the way out , while dishevelled chignons were all the rage at Victoria Beckham and Marc Jacobs in New York. Hey, if it’s good enough for them…

6.    Minimalist accessories

The perfect complement to that slightly messy hairdo – a sleek and simple hairband. We loved those at Proenza Schouler – in slick leather and metallic details, the models looked fantastically polished, with minimal fuss!

7.    The Power Pout

Yes, the power pout is back once again – you can leave behind those nudes and barely there tints for another day. Instead, pick up a bold, full bodied oxblood or deep red, and make sure your pout is lined for a flawless result. This is not a look for smudges and smears.

8.    The ultimate prettiness

One of our favourite looks of all was at Michael Kors –this was nothing overly dramatic or shocking, but just utterly full of prettiness. How was it done? Slightly smudged eyes for a soft, sexy look, done in warm brown liner and mascara to keep the smoky eye a little more subtle, soft pink stained lips and a hint of bronze to lift and add colour to cheeks. Utterly delectable!
